Who are your favorite composers? What are some of your favorite recordings?
This is a difficult question. Beethoven, Bach, and Brahms will always hold a special place in my heart. I also love the Mahler symphonies. Marina Piccinini’s recordings of the Bach Sonatas and Hilary Hahn’s recordings of the Higdon and Tchaikovsky Violin Concertos are some of my favorites.

What stands out as your favorite musical memory?
Playing Mahler’s First Symphony with the Peoria Symphony Orchestra when I was in high school was one of my favorite experiences.

Who are your music mentors and what have you learned from them?
Dr. Broffitt it is my most important music mentor. She has taught me to put thought into every phrase of my music—it should always be going somewhere!

What is the most valuable lesson that music has taught you?
Music has taught me the importance of dedication and perseverance.

What are your favorite things about the Flute Studio and the School of Visual + Performing Arts?
I really like the friendly, supportive atmosphere of both the Flute Studio and the School of Visual + Performing Arts. Also, I learn a lot from the guest artists Dr. Broffitt brings to OSU and enjoy attending performances of guest artists brought in by other faculty.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Coca-Cola. Regular Coke. Cherry Coke. Vanilla Coke. Cherry-Vanilla Coke.

Do you have any tips or advice for younger flutists?
Never shirk the fundamentals. Fundamental practice is necessary for every flutist, regardless of age or ability. We can always improve!

What are five fun facts about you?
1. I played saxophone in jazz band for all four years of high school.
2. I also played flute in a jazz combo for a year.
3. I don’t have any active social media accounts.
