Future Undergraduate Students


The Oklahoma State University Department of Music offers the following undergraduate degree programs:

  • Bachelor of Music in Performance: This degree will assist the student preparing for a professional performing career, graduate school, and teaching in a collegiate or private school.
  • Bachelor of Musicin Music Education: This degree with its three options is designed for the student desiring a teaching career in the public schools. It leads toward an Oklahoma State Teacher's Certificate. The degree is also excellent preparation for graduate school.
  • Bachelor of Music with Elective Studies in Business: This degree allows the student interested in a music business related field to receive instruction in both music and business topics.
  • Bachelor of Arts in Music: This degree offers the student broad liberal arts instruction with an emphasis in the music field.
  • Minor in Music

  1. Contact Dr. Broffitt (virginia.broffitt@okstate.edu or 405.744.8984)
  2. Apply to the university
  3. Schedule an entrance audition

Undergraduate Auditions

Students auditioning for an undergraduate degree should prepare two pieces of contrasting styles and will be expected to play major scales. You should choose repertoire that showcases both your technical and musical ability. Possible examples of repertoire include (but are not limited to):

  • A movement from a Mozart Concerto (G major or D major)
  • A movement from a Bach Sonata
  • A piece from the “French Composers” book
  • A movement from a major sonata or concerto (i.e. Poulenc, Nielsen, Prokofiev, etc.)
  • An appropriate etude (Andersen Op. 30, 33, 15, Paganini, etc.)
  • All-State audition repertoire

Visit Campus

All prospective students are encouraged to visit our campus prior to an audition. A visit can include a campus tour visiting music classes, viewing rehearsals, and meeting current students and faculty.
